Philemon YANG : Grand Chancellor of National Orders

Mr. Philémon Yang, born June 14, 1947 in Jiketem-Oku (Bui department in the North-West region), is a Cameroonian statesman, Prime Minister between 2009 and 2019. He is a former magistrate and diplomat .

He followed a course at the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences of the University of Yaoundé, and graduated from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).

In January 1975, Mr. Philémon Yang was appointed to the office of the Buea Court of Appeal as an officer as prosecutor. On June 30, 1975, he was appointed to the government as vice-minister of territorial administration. In May 1978, he became Minister of Livestock and Animal Industries. In November 1979, he was appointed Minister of Mines and Energy. Then he left the government on February 4, 1984. On October 23, 1984, he was appointed Ambassador of Cameroon to Canada and held this position for the next 20 years.

In December 2004, Mr. Philémon Yang was appointed Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic. On June 30, 2009, he was appointed Prime Minister, Head of Government by presidential decree.

On April 17, 2020, he was appointed Grand Chancellor of the National Orders with the rank of Minister of State. This title elevates him to the dignity of Grand-Collier of the Order of Valor.
