Cross of Military Valour

The Cameroon Cross of Military Valour shall be intended to reward servicemen/servicewomen of the National Gendarmerie and the Army who are holders of a citation for feat of arms achieved in military operations.
Citation type
Each citation shall entitle its holder to wear a brooch on the ribbon of the Cross under the following conditions:
  • Citation in the dispatches of the Nation conferring the right to wear a gilt palm-shaped brooch
  • Citation in the dispatches of the National Forces conferring the right to wear a silver-gilt palm-shaped brooch
  • Citation in the dispatches of the Armed Forces conferring the right to wear a silver palm-shaped brooch
Ceremonial Cross of Military Valour
The Cameroon Cross of Military Valour shall be awarded on the Armed Forces Day. However, it may be awarded at any other venue and time on the decision of the President of the Republic when circumstances so require.
  • The decoration ceremonial shall take place in front of the troops in the « present arms ! » position. A drum rool shall precede and follow the Cross presentation ceremonial,
  • The authority awarding the decoration shall stand in front of the recipient and, after calling his grade name state : « in the name of the President of the Republic, we confer on you the Cameroon Cross of Military Valour with citation in the dispatches of … »
  • The Cameroon Cross of Military Valour shall be worn immediately after the Order of Valour.
  • The Cameroon Cross of Military Valour shall be exempt from any Chancellery fees or insignia reimbursement chages.
Conditions for Awarding and Wearing Decorations
  • The Cameroon Cross of Military Valour shall be conferred by the President of the Republic on the recommendation of the Minister in charge of defense, after consultation with the Cross of Military Valour Commission.
  • The proposal must include a report on the feat of arms prepared by the military leader.
  • The Commission referred to in section 58 above shall submit to the President of the Republic its opinion on the files referred to it, present to the Grand Master of the National Orders only deserving candidates and strictly guarantee the prestige of the Cameroon Cross of Military Valour.
Reasons for rejection
  • Persons who have been convicted of crime or intentional misdemeanour ;
  • Persons who have been stripped of their grade, demoted or relegated from the 1st Class, as a disciplinary measure ;
  • Persons who, in the last two years, were placed in detention or close arrest for 20 (twenty) days.
